What are your hours?
I schedule sessions Monday – Thursday from 1 pm ET – 8 pm ET; 10 am PT – 5 pm PT.
How long are your sessions?
I schedule each session for 50 minutes, with the exception of our initial session, which is scheduled for 60-90 minutes. Fifty minutes are available for your appointment from the scheduled start time. At times, we may elect to extend the length of the appointment, if necessary.
Do you take insurance?
I am considered an “out-of-network” provider and can supply you with a monthly statement to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement according to your plan’s benefits.
I want to use my insurance. How do I know whether it will cover our sessions?
Give your insurance company a call and inquire about your benefits for mental health. Here are some questions you can ask your insurance company to get a good sense of what your benefits are and what they’ll cover:
- Do I have out-of-network benefits for outpatient mental health care, and if so, how do I request reimbursement for services? (Out-of-network benefits are most commonly associated with PPO plans but not HMO plans.)
- Do I have a deductible? If so, what is it, and have I met it yet?
- How much will my insurance reimburse me for therapy sessions with a social worker?
- Does my plan limit how many sessions per calendar year I can have? If so, what is the limit? If I need to meet with my therapist twice in one week, will both sessions be covered?
- Do I need to have a referral/prior authorization from my primary care physician in order for services to be covered?
- Does my insurance plan cover teletherapy?
How do I set up an initial appointment?
Book a complimentary consultation today! We can discuss more about what you’re looking for in therapy, and I can answer any questions you have about working together.
What is your cancellation policy?
If you need to reschedule or cancel an appointment, please let me know as soon as possible. Missed appointments and appointments canceled less than 24 hours in advance are charged the full session fee.
What methods of payment do you accept?
I accept credit card, check, Venmo, or other mobile banking, such as Zelle. Payment is collected at the time of each session.
Do you offer in-person or virtual sessions?
If you live in California, Massachusetts, or Pennsylvania, we can meet virtually. Telehealth offers so much flexibility with scheduling. My clients take their sessions from the privacy of their couch, office, dorm, or the great outdoors. Where you go, therapy can go!
If you live in the Los Angeles area, we have the option of meeting in person, virtually, or a mix of the two.
Is virtual therapy a good fit for me?
Research shows that virtual therapy is as effective as in-person therapy. It offers flexibility and convenience for the overly scheduled and overly committed. Many of my clients are not able to attend weekly sessions in-person because of the additional time required for travel.
Virtual therapy is a great option for individuals experiencing mild to moderate symptoms, who feel comfortable using technology, and can ensure they have a private, quiet space for their sessions. If you have more questions about whether this is a fit for you, reach out to me, and we can discuss.
What is your professional training and experience?
I earned my Master’s in Social Work from Simmons University in Boston, where I completed clinical internships providing intensive support to children and teens through the Wraparound model and offering therapy to college students at Wellesley College’s Stone Center.
Before that, I worked in a variety of mental health settings, including as a milieu counselor at McLean Hospital and a residential counselor at Laurel Hill Inn, supporting individuals in eating disorder recovery. I later became a case manager at the partial hospitalization program at the Cambridge Eating Disorder Center.
Most recently, I was a therapist at Harvard University’s Counseling and Mental Health Services, where I led the multidisciplinary eating disorders team and co-developed a mental health program for student-athletes.
Who do you work with?
I help high-performing adults (students, athletes, and professionals) who feel stuck under the weight of anxiety, burnout, people-pleasing, overthinking, and self-doubt despite their success. We work on managing overwhelm, challenging perfectionistic patterns, and reconnecting with one’s inner compass. Through our work together, clients build clarity, confidence, and emotional balance, allowing them to show up fully in their lives and unlock their potential.
What age ranges do you work with?
I work with individuals who are 18 years or older. If you’re nearing 18, please still reach out!
Do you work with couples?
I only offer individual therapy. When appropriate, a client’s partner, parent, sibling, or other support may join a session.
How often will we meet?
The frequency of our sessions will depend on several factors: therapy goals, current concerns, your preference, and your availability. This is something we’ll discuss during our initial consultation and then confirm after the first few sessions. Frequency can certainly change over time depending upon what’s going on in your life. Regardless, I recommend meeting weekly for the first month in order to get some momentum before we space sessions out.
How do I know if you’re the right therapist for me?
- Great question. The best way to find out is to try it out. I offer a free consultation so you can see how it feels to talk with me and ask any questions.
- After a few sessions, most people have a gut sense. Do you feel heard? Do our conversations feel helpful? Do you feel like you can be yourself? You might notice you’re actually looking forward to sessions, or that something we talked about sticks with you during the week. That’s usually a sign we’re heading in a positive direction.
Do you assign homework?
I wouldn’t call it “homework,” per se. But yes – you can expect to work on doing something between sessions. How else is change going to occur? At the end of each appointment, we’ll talk about what you want to take away from our session and put into practice.
What modalities do you use?
I specialize in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC). I work from a psychodynamic and Relational-Cultural Theory framework. At times, I also utilize Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) Therapy, and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT). Even my eyes are crossed after reading that paragraph, so if you have questions about the specifics, we can discuss.
Still have questions?
Reach out to me today! You can book a consultation or send me a question. I’ll respond in less than 24 hours, and I’d love to hear from you!
Okay, one more question – who are you outside of therapy?
If you made it all the way to this question… I see you. I’m not usually one to overshare, but here’s a peek: I’m a recovering perfectionist and the friend who’s always down to listen, laugh, or both at once. Grew up outside Pittsburgh, did my time in Boston (yes, I survived those winters and weirdly miss them), and now call sunny SoCal home. I love being a West Coaster, but remain loyal to East Coast oysters. Welfleet oysters or bust!
I’m nervous about therapy.
Totally get it. Starting therapy can feel nerve-racking. It’s a big step, and it makes sense to feel unsure or even a little intimidated. The best thing you can do is come in with an open mind about the possibility that therapy could actually help. It doesn’t have to be perfect or polished; just jot down a few things that have been bothering you lately or what you hope might feel different down the line. And know this: nothing is off-limits here. You can say the hard things, the weird things, the things you’ve never said out loud. That’s what this space is for.
